The Wujido Institute seems very classy, you are taken in by this certain charm of it being Old World and following the Taoist principles that emanate from China, but Taoist it is not and Harkins does not follow the principles and values of Buddhism or Taoism based on his business dealings.  His salesman mark some years ago pushed me into signing a contract without even seeing the class.  He did not explain in clear detail that one could not opt out of the contract if one moved or could not attend anymore.  You were locked in for 18 months.  How honorable is that? Harkins does not believe in karma, the golden rule.  He believes in "By deception thou shalt take your neighbor's money".  It is deceptive not to show the class.  Having people sign contracts where you don't want them to know they are signing something they are locked into for 18 months shows a lack of character.  It's one thing if someone is told up-front they are signing a 3 month contract, but not 18 months.  It's fine if you want to have some kind of penalty if someone ops out of a contract.  You also don't even get a copy of the contract.  What kind of business doesn't give you a copy of the contract? This happened to me in 2004, and I never forgot what happened.  Eventually I found a settlement. At least, I got that.  However, even after I painfully paid a lot of money to get out of my obligations to them and felt like a fool, Harkins' people contacted my family wanting me to sign up.  They contacted my mother some time after they made me pay that money.

The nerve of them.  I was out of the country.  I was saying to my brother, "You got to be kidding me, they called you?".  I see they have a nice, new center and relocated.    Mr. Harkins due to the information that he doesn't want you to contemplate before you sign is ripping you off.  I don't accept that it is simply buyer beware if you are trying to use the name of Shaolin and the principles behind Shaolin.

There is nothing Shaolin about Harkins or his business practices.   I also think that
an organization should not be legally allowed to get away with not making sure you have a copy of the contract, and you should be allowed to observe the classes.  The problem is not simply Harkins but our legal system allowing this.
