On the 3rd of March, 2008, a solicitior came to my front door claiming he was selling magazine subscriptions to raise money for him to go to college. He said he wanted to raise the money so he could go to a good out of state university to pursue his education, and if we could get a magazine subscrition to help him out.

The magazine supscriptions were not cheap, so myself, my mother, and father declined to help out but he was so persistent in trying to get us to help him out, that he refused to leave our front door step until we gave him money for a magazine. My father repeatedly told the guy we are not interested, so the guy was trying to persuade me.

I told him honestly, I have no time to read any magazines, and I really cannot afford it right now. He said "just give the subscription to the hospital or somthing, your doing it for a cause." I told him again, I cannot afford it, and he says, "yes you can", "it's whether or not you want to help out a kid who's trying to get a better education, I am a very smart kid."
Honeslty, I was starting to give up debating with him, and decided to order a subscription to Nylon practically against my will.

I gave him $12.45 upfront, and he then told me I had to mail the other half within 2-10 days to get my subscription to the magazine, and it would take 90 days to get the subscription. I was upset, but I just wanted him to leave already, so I paid him, and he left.
I was still suspisious, so I decided I was going to try to contact them. There was a number on the customer reciept, and the answering service gave me another number to call. I called the number and told the receptionist my situation, and she told me they do not give refunds back to subscriptions that are below $25. I had never heard of that before, so now I am filing this complaint.

This story is for everyone to read and just know that you cannot trust any solicitor that comes to your front door! I hope that justice will be made here because this is obserd, and solicitors should not get away with this!
