A young woman came to my door selling magazine subscription on August 22, 2006. She gave the "please buy from me so I can earn points towards my nursing tuition," selling pitch. I needed to renew for a certain magazine anyway so I went ahead with this AM Press Association. I cut her a check for $12.00, she told me to send the other half in within a week or so.

I didn't send the other the half until almost a month later. I was told that once they received the full payment they will send it to the publisher and I was to receive the magazines within 90-120 days. That should have started in January 2007 the lasted. Still nothing.

I called the AM Press demanding a reason why. She read out my address and got the City,State and Zip wrong. How they got Illinois from Missouri is beyond me. I asked for a refund at this point, the rude woman told me no. She said it was too late and made no apologizes for their mistakes.

She said it will take another month before I get the first magazine. That's when I looked them up and found your website on them. Now I'm worried and pissed off that I got ripped off.

Has anyone gotten any results from these people?

I am very glad to hear that I wasnt the one who took your order. The person who knocked on your door SHOULD have informed you that you have to mail in your balance within 2-10 days. The fact is, its actually printed on the receipts. It tells you to send in the remaining balance with the yellow copy.
If you dont send in the balance the company assumes that you are delinquent and doesnt process your order.
The publishers of the periodicals dont know about AM Press because its actually in INDEPENDANT marketing firm, which is also printed on receipts. The contracts are all cleared through Lonnie Devine, who owns the company that allows the magazine crews sell magazines.
And yes, it is a little extreme to travel city-city selling things, but it happens all the time, whether it be cleaning products, vacuums, or even meats .
I am so sorry for the fact that the representative for this company didnt clearly inform you about the time that you had to send in your balance :)
And yes, people do get their magazines, but they arent going to come on here and write a story saying 'Hey I ordered magazines from this kid and I got em, it was great!!'

Ex Employee Heather from AM Press

I checked my invoice, It was not you that knocked on my door. I am confused though, you mean to tell me that you travel city to city selling magazines? That sounds a bit extreme. And I did send in my balance, it was a month later, but it was sent. I should have gotten my magazines now. After I saw this website on AM Press, I called directly to the Sporting News publishing. They said they never heard of such a company nor have the heard of Mags R Us.

I went ahead and order directly with the publisher and it took two weeks before I received the magazines. I know it came from them because I put it in my husband's name.

Maybe someone like you didn't scam somelike me, but the company your represent sure seems shady.

If you read my rebuttal on Rosa Estrada, you would know my name is Heather, and I went door-to-door selling magazines for over a year. You would also have read that I never scammed anyone, the reason why you didnt get your magazines is because you didnt send in your balance.

My sales pitch was that I was going to Nursing school, I was the only one using this pitch. Its really not a lie, though, I am actually an LPN, and when I started working for this company, I was told I needed to tell people I was earning points for college.

So I used Nursing, because its actually true. If you check your receipt, you will see and ID number at the top. If it reads HLK15, I sincerely apologize for not getting you address correct.

I had ALOT of people order magazines from me in my time traveling, considering I was one of the top salespeople on the crew, but I did it honestly, and I never intentionally meant for anyone to not get what they paid for.
