They sell a system called Harbortouch. Please look them up as well. It is slow and can not preform the way they make it out to be. I was told I could transfer inventory seamlessly form one store location to the other with the two POS system I purchased. After I sign the contract I ask them how I set up the transfer and they tell me it is an additional $120 per month or you have to process over $35,000 in credit card a month with them. How do you expect a business that just started to process that kind of volume. Also they sneak all kind of hidden fee in the fine print of the contract that is 9 pages long and you need a law degree to understand most of it. It not just $69 per month there are other fees monthly, Quartly $59, Anually $229, then outrageous Credit card processing Fees. They tell you to go get a competitors quote and they will match it but it the quote is too good they wont take it. If you have problems they will block your number so they don’t have to answer your calls anymore. If you try to call Harbortouch you wait on hold for hours and when you do get to talk to someone they can’t do anything and tell you to call you sales rep that blocked your number.

Understanding the whole situation with East Coast Hydro

AUTHOR: Pos System Store - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, January 16, 2017

As with many business situations there are two perspectives to every story. We have tried to work with Craig Willet, the owner of East Coast Hydro in Massachusetts to resolve his inventory situation but unfortunately have not been able to do so to his satisfaction.

A little background might be helpful to understand the situation. Mr. Willet signed up through us for the Harbortouch POS program in October of 2014. He has used the system for over 2 years, not a few months as he presented in his submission. We represent several different POS programs at various price points and functionality that we sell nationwide – each requires simply that the merchant process their credit and debit cards with the POS company they sign with at competitive market rates usually set by the volume of credit/debit cards they process at the business.

Mr. Willet chose, read and signed up for the Harbortouch program. In turn, as part of the Harbortouch’s initial account boarding process a representative from the Order Administration group called and verified with Mr. Willet each and every element of the POS and processing monthly expenses. At that time the merchant can cancel and not proceed with their order. Mr. Willet freely chose to continue on with his POS order as the Harbortouch program for the price and functionality is a great deal in the POS competitive landscape.

What it boils down to is Mr. Willet is upset that he can’t link real time his inventory across his two locations at no additional cost to him. Allowing one location to search the other for item availability and quantity on hand is a functionality that most POS systems if they have it - charge more for this type of software and POS systems – its simply what the market will bear.

We tried to explain to Mr. Willet, that while Harbortouch does possess the functionality but not without some incremental cost to the merchant and to Harbortouch. We don’t control this fee, it is set and managed by Harbortouch. Harbortouch is more than happy to assist Mr. Willet with copying or putting new items that he might have at one location in the inventory file for the other location. But to do it real time requires hosting his systems each month on dedicated servers for his enterprise – hence the incremental cost. He didn’t want to hear any of it and continued to call at all hours of the day, every day of the week to our personal cell numbers to voice his frustration and complaints – for this reason he as blocked on contacting our personal cell phone numbers but more than capable of contacting us through our 800 business number or reaching out directly to Harbortouch’s customer service number.

What is unfortunate is Mr. Willet partially created the situation he is in. Some concessions can be made for merchant’s that do a high volume in credit card transactions with them as Mr. Willet stated. What Mr. Willet failed to disclose was that while he is in his own words is capable of processing $30,000 or more per a month at each of his locations and is processing a majority of his credit card volume with another company, leaving his aggregate monthly sales at less than $2,500 a month for both locations with HT.  Hey a lot of merchant’s do this for whatever reason even though it is technically against the terms of his POS contract that they signed, but you can’t expect the company in turn to make concessions for you when you do so.
