I took my Toyota Sienna in for routine oil change and tire rotatinon after the two year complimentary service period with a coupon (5 quarts of oil) advertising  $92.95  ($94+ with tax which is strange since sales tax in MD is 6%)

At checkout from the service dept.  I was told they had to add two additional quarts of oil (when the engine only takes 5 quarts of oil) and tried to jack up the charge to about $130.  These people are clearly not to be trusted telling the truth.  Avoid Koons Toyota of Annapolis like the plague.

After I told them the engine only holds 5 quarts and they were not being honest they eventually reluctantly honored the $94 estimate obtained from their telephone receptionist and just a little over the coupon guarantee of $94.95.

I subsequently reviewed the BBB site for Koons Toyota of Annapolis and found 14 complaints ranging from  minor to major attempts at fraudulent behavior of the service dept.

An even better option

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Sunday, November 08, 2015

For more than 50 years I have done my own auto repair/maintenance for exactly this reason, but with the cold temperature at that time and an interest in avoiding the extraordinary hassle with the new style oil filte and specalized roil filter wrench requiried  in Toyotas I reluctantly decided to try out Koons, to my everlasting regret.

No one enjoys being cheated and Koons has demonstrated by this example that they will not only "WOW" you as Krystal Koons rountinely parrots over the TV ads, they will lie to you to achieve even more "WOW" !

Subsequent maintenance was done in my usual manner using the ridiculously expensive 0-20W synthetic oil (obtained for the best price at Walmart),  for under $40, but I sitll had to buy a specalized oiil filter wrench which, had I known when I bought the Toyota may have gone somewhere else.  Toyota appears to be living up the the reputation of the Japanese of Dec. 7, 1941!.

This Is EXACTLY Why You Go To An Independent Mechanic!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, November 07, 2015

Get to know a good independent mechanic shop and take your car there for non-warranty work.  An "independent mechanic" is a stand alone shop, often owned by a mechanic.  It is NOT Walmart, the quick oil change place or somebody who fixes cars on the weekend.  What you'll find is much better prices, a higher commitment to honesty and integrity, better customer relations and higher skills.  If your car is still under factory warranty, do not allow the dealer to tell you having your maintenance done by a non-dealer voids the warranty.  That statement is an outright lie.  The Magnuson-Moss Act allows you to get such work done anywhere you wish or even doing it yourself without voiding the warranty.  Please do this starting NOW.  The FRAUD and DECEPTION which is now common place in the Sleazy Amercian Car Business has slimed its way into the service department.
