I have been a reliable paying customer for 12 year's now on dial up. I stayed here because I can have 7 screen names and I dont have to go to other places to get more names. Bad thinking, I know.

I was first signed up for AOL for the $27.95 plus paying a $5.00, then it went to $7.00 monthly check service fee for using automatic check withdrawal from my account. I paid this until about 03/2009 when I found out about the debit card payment, was free!

January of 2010 when I mistakenly changed my checking accounts to clean up strange bank reports I was getting each month. While I was doing this, I forgot to notify AOL to change the account. This is when they turned off my account. I called them and was talking to the agent when I discovered that AOL has Two types of account's for storage. The difference between these Two account's is the amount of storage space on AOL's server that we customer's will use up. Those are 35 gigs or 5 gigs. Now, if you're just a daily browser of AOL and don't do any massive amount of emails for like a business or work from home. There is no way, you will ever use more than 5 gigs of space. You can use your computer for Ten year's and you still won't use 35 gigs, THAT THEY ARE CHARGING YOU FOR, FROM THE START. They only offer this 5 gig plan if you complain to them that you are paying way too much. They won't ever tell you this either and I managed to get the girl on the phone to admit there was a difference in storage type account's.

You will also not be told that you can get out of paying that monthly check charge fee by USING YOUR DEBIT CARD. This card has no fee for using it!!! When my account was turned off, there was no change to my computer or software at all when they modified this so called plan to 5 gigs. NOPE-NOTHING CHANGED. When I called AOL after they turned off my account, I told the woman that I am sick of their service and constantly having troubles with my AOL software. I have to visit the HELP area alot to fix slow moving internet surfing and other problem's. I am on the computer almost everyday. After I talked with AOL last year, they were suppose to remove this $7.00 check charge and I told the girl on the phone that I wanted a refund and I expect a department manager to call and speak with me within the next 4 days. Never got a call and I just discovered that the $7.00 was still coming out of my account. This time I changed it online. I also told the girl on the phone that I am not paying anymore services to AOL unless I end up with an account for less then $15.00 a month. I got the next Two month's for $10.95 and then they raised the account up to $11.99, now the account payment is at $18.99 as of 11 of 2009. I never got any refunds or credit. I have never gotten a AOL notice to increase my monthly fee to where it is now.

DO THE MATH HERE.  12 months in a year times $7.00= $84.00 times 11 years= $924.00 THAT AOL SHOULD SEND ME A CHECK FOR. I do not know how long it was, when I was paying that $5.00 monthly fee.

PLUSSSSSSS...I was paying $27.95 a month when I could have gotten this for $10.95 like the first Two months they restarted my account after it was turned off...

DO THAT MATH TOO... $27.95 per month for 11 years when I could have paid $10.95...thats a difference of $17.00 a month times 12 months in a year times 11 years==$2,244.00 that AOL should refund to me.

AOL? I am still waiting for that call.  If you made it too the bottom of this complaint and you are a member of AOL. You should look into what I have said and file a complaint with the state attorneys generals office in your state. This amount of money is how AOL got really rich and they deceived alot of us customers. The sad thing is all the people out there that have AOL and they have no clue what they are paying for.

I also found out AOL will give you a military account for $10.00 a month If you have a relative in the military. How fair is tha? They can give the account to someone for that amount and make everyone else pay the inflated prices??? See the point?

I am working on my complaint and compiling a list of all the state attorney general's in the USA.
